As an innovator, the LUMC aims to improve healthcare and people’s health. We will achieve this mission by providing our patients with optimised, state-of-the-art healthcare based on pioneering research and innovative teaching. The LUMC concentrates on academic care. We define academic care as complex and highly specialised tertiary referral care (TRF) delivered to patients with severe or rare diseases or disorders that are difficult to treat. To maintain our expertise at the highest level, we participate in European Reference Networks. We share the knowledge that we acquire in these networks with our regional partners. Cooperation is crucial for all patients, and that includes cooperation with patients themselves.
